It has a large specific surface area, strong surface adsorption, and is easy to agglomerate. Fumed silica can form a uniform three-dimensional network structure in the liquid system, this structure will be temporarily destroyed under the action of external forces, but will recover itself after the disappearance of external forces, showing thixotropy.
